Institute of Physics Publishing has again been recognized this year with the prestiQueen's Award for Export Achievementgious Queen's Award for Export Achievement. The award is for British companies and other organizations who are major exporters of goods and services. It acknowledges consistent growth and outstanding export performance over a period of several years. The company is one of only 70 UK companies and the only publishing company to receive this award for export achievement in the year 2000. The Institute of Physics is highly regarded throughout the world for its publishing and this award pays tribute to the skilled hard work of the company's staff. The award recognises the company's success in exporting science and technology information and for its innovative use of Web-based technology. The award was presented to Jerry Cowhig, Managing Director of Institute of Physics Publishing, by HM Lord Lieutenant of Bristol,
J N Tidmarsh, MBE, JP. at a ceremony held at its Bristol office on Monday 16 October 2000. The formal presentation of the award was followed by celebrations to congratulate all the staff who have contributed to the company's success.

Institute of Physics Publishing is based in Dirac House, Temple Back, Bristol, where it employs over 200 staff. A further ten staff are based overseas, mostly in Philadelphia, USA. The company also has offices in Germany, China and Russia.

The publishing activity of the Institute of Physics started 125 years ago with the Proceedings of the Physical Society of London.
Institute of Physics Publishing is now an international publisher with more than 30 journals including some electronic only, six technical magazines and a wide range of books. More than 80% of revenue is derived from overseas, a similar proportion of journal authors are outside the United Kingdom and the majority of our Editorial Board members and referees reside outside the country.
